Summer Bedroom Refresh

It’s officially summer in San Francisco. We got through our yearly ritual heat wave (so rough when there is no AC to rely on) and now, just two weeks later, I’m leaving work in a perpetual bed of fog every evening. Right now, I’m staring out my kitchen window in the early evening and the sun is trying SO hard to peek out, but it’s just not going to happen. There’s something about our foggy summers that makes me want to nest! The best routine is ending my evenings with a walk in Golden Gate Park and then cozying up at home.

This weekend I shot some photos of my apartment for a lifestyle website that I have been obsessed with for years. I can’t believe that they’ll be sharing my home with their readers… You bet I’ll be sharing more details and the link to the post when it goes live! #lifegoals

Taking the time to spruce up my apartment for the photoshoot made me reconsider some things in the space, one being my bedding choices for summer. I’ve had the same blue throw on my bed the last two years, and decided to switch it up with this sweet throw from (no surprise) Anthropologie. I actually bought it about 6 months ago and it’s been chilling on my couch, but wasn’t really noticeable under a mountain of pillows. When I laid it out on the foot of my bed the other morning, I knew it was meant to stay for a while.

To keep the new color theme going, I brought out this little lumbar pillow with the yellow pom poms that I purchased at Nordstrom Rack years ago. I never used it, yet refused to sell it or give it away. So glad I didn’t because finally, I have a place for it! I also switched out my euro sham with a white cover that I got on sale at Anthro, and it made everything feel so crisp and clean.

Another quick yet game-changing switch was getting two new sleeping pillows. I noticed my neck, shoulders and back were bothering me when I woke up each morning, as if I hadn’t been sleeping right. I went to Macy’s one weekend and had a really bad experience (all of their pillows smelled like mildew?!) so decided to take a chance and order from Casper. I liked that there was a money-back guarantee, and the two pillows together only cost me around $120 (I used a discount code I found online)!

It’s been just a couple of weeks since I started sleeping with these and they are the real deal! So fluffy and luxe and just perfect for a side/tummy sleeper like myself. Apparently, this pillow works for all sleeping types because of it’s pillow-in-pillow design. I can’t recommend it more!

I tell everyone I know that making your bed up to be a luxurious, comfortable haven is one of the best things you can do in your space for your wellbeing. Are you inspired to take on a new project this summer? DM me your pics if you need advice on how to spruce up your bedding look… I’d be more than happy to weigh in!
